Automatic bidding allows you to set the maximum amount you are willing to pay, and the system will handle the bidding for you.
Instead of manually increasing your bid each time someone outbids you, the system will automatically place bids on your behalf in £1 increments until your maximum limit is reached.
Once an automatic bid has been placed, it cannot be changed.
1. Enter Your Maximum Bid
Choose automatic bidding and enter the highest amount you are willing to pay for the item.
2. The System Bids for You
When another user places a bid, the system will automatically increase your bid using the set bid increment (for example £1).
3. Stay Ahead Automatically
If your maximum bid is higher than the competing bids, the system will continue to automatically raise your bid to keep you in the lead.
4. When Your Limit Is Reached
Once the bidding exceeds your maximum amount, the system will stop bidding and another bidder may take the lead.
Current bid: £50
You set a maximum bid of £100
Bid increment: £1
If another bidder places £51, the system will automatically bid £52 for you.
This will continue until either:
Your £100 maximum is reached, or
Other bidders stop bidding.
